Pura Vida from Hawthorne Threads

Pura Vida Fabric Poster 1000

Visiting Costa Rica is, as the locals say, Pura Vida. Literally meaning "pure life," this expression of eternal optimism is a proper response to any number of conversational greetings and inquiries, or simply a means of describing that everything is "all good". Our latest in house designed and printed collection takes inspiration from this most peaceful, and environmentally sensitive country, poised to awaken not just your eyes and ears, but your philosophical musings on life in general. Having left a profound impact on me and my husband upon vacationing there a few years ago, we eagerly returned with our son and daughter just a few weeks ago. Fabrics, sewn quilts, garments, and accessories in hand, we had quite the full circle Pura Vida experience. We invite you to be similarly inspired by the delights of the rainforest, finding the awe and wonder of this tropical land of butterflies, jungle cats, toucans, sloths, and more!

Our Patchwork cheater design makes for a quick quilt! Ours is backed in the Monstera Canopy in Ink, and bound with Foliage in Azalea. The cheater design also makes for fun bedding, pillows, easy totes or whimsical dresses and skirts for girls.

My Aidan and Annie enjoying the Pura Vida life, hunting for birds and sloths!

We sewed up two Peekaboo Pattern Shirts for my son, one in the Indigo Damask and one in the Ink Cat Scratch. My daughter lucked out with four different garments. She always loves the Criss Cross Tunic design so we made here one in the Shell Toucans as well as the Azalea Damask. She also loves the Ayda Pattern so she got a peplum tunic in the Ink Jungle Floor design, and a dress in the Boruca Dance Double Border. It was so cool to see them enjoy the various adventurous excursions decked out in their HT fabrics! And those activities wouldn't be complete without a couple of handy drawstring backpacks to store their cameras and water bottles. See here for the easy tutorial. We hope you find sewing with our new collection to be Pura Vida!
