How to sew seams // A Flint pants tutorialApril 22, 2017 / bymeg / Categories : Feeds
I love it when we get to this stage, as the pants are really starting to look like pants! Today we are going to be sewing the seams of your Flint pants or shorts, and it’s super easy my dears!
Lets get started!
Place the Back pieces right sides together. Sew 5/8” (1.5cm) from the raw edge along the centre back seam.
Finish the raw edges by your desired method such as using a zig zag stitch, overlocker/serger or even a binding. As you can see i used an overlocker, and it trimmed my seam allowances back to 1/4″. For other methods of finishing raw edges you may wish to clip into the curved part of the seam, being careful not to cut through the seam stitches, as this will allow you to press your seam more cleanly, and allow better range of motion.
For some ideas on how to finish the raw edges of your seams, check out this tutorial.
Press the seam either open or towards the side.
Repeat the same method for the centre front seam.
Place the Front and Back of the pants right sides together, so that the side seams and inseams line up.
Sew 5/8” (1.5cm) from the raw edge along the side seams and the inseams. Finish the raw edges as desired and press either open or towards the back.
How easy was that?! Next up we’ll be attaching waistbands!
