I Brake for Vintage Neon

April 20, 2017   /   byJaney  / Categories :  Feeds

Throughout our entire trip there was lots of yelling “I’m pulling over!” or “Pull over!” depending on who was driving. Sometimes it was quite frantic. I have been called “dramatic” at times. But I just can’t help myself when I see a good vintage neon sign! And boy were there a lot of good ones! Some were attached to businesses still operating, others abandoned. So, in my last road trip post I share a collection of all of the gorgeous signs we saw, plus a few images of their accompanying buildings if the were pretty neat looking too!

The Starlite Motel actually belonged to my great grandmother, and my grandfather helped her run it after moving to Nampa. Today it sits abandoned (or at least appears that way) next to a Mexican restaurant, and I would love to get my hands on this sign!

This Sahara Motel was one of my favorite buildings we stopped at. Architecturally it was stunning, and wouldn’t look out of place in Palm Springs!

It should be noted that the shot of the room was taken through the window. We did not attempt to enter any of the rooms.

And last but not least is perhaps one of the coolest non-Las Vegas neon signs I have ever seen… Margie’s Merry-Go Round. You can tell that at one time the carousel spun, and if you look, you can see the restaurant is shaped just ever so slightly like a merry-go round!

Well, this post wraps up our road trip posts! I hope you enjoyed seeing some of the same sights we saw!
