One Room Challenge Week Four: Couch Dreams Coming True

ORC week 4

Last week I shared with you our design board for the living room, featuring a blue couch I was very hopeful of finding. This week I’m sharing with you the couch of my freaking dreams.

If you saw my instagram stories, you know getting this couch was no simple feat. I saw online that this couch was at Final Cut, and it was exactly what I had been envisioning in my head. I was determined to make it mine, and began scheming how to get myself, a truck, trailer, and baby all down to Augusta, GA to bring this bad boy home. Since I am home a few days a week, I wanted to utilize my time so I was ready to pack up and go.

The problem was that neither of our cars have a hitch, so I had to hunt down a car to borrow. I’d also have to rent a trailer, which I had never driven before. But I’ve always been convinced, when there’s a will there’s a way.

Well, there wasn’t a way… Scofield (and my mom, and his mom, and my dad, and his dad) felt very poorly about me loading up such precious cargo (the baby, not the couch ;) by myself with a trailer and windy roads. I couldn’t blame them. So we were able to work it out to where Scofield and I would drive down on his day off and we crossed our fingers the couch would still be available.

When we got to Final Cut the couch had on piece of paper on it that said, “reserved.” Nooooo. I was heartbroken. But not ready to give up yet. We looked around for other similar minty blue couches, and found a couple, but I felt like I would be settling. The store was closing in less than an hour, so Scofield had the bright idea of waiting it out. We hadn’t seen anyone hanging out around the couch, so we thought maybe they wouldn’t show to pick it up. And BINGO! Closing time rolled around and said couch claimers were nowhere to be found. The couch was ours!! So we loaded her up and brought her to her forever home.

She is everything I had dreamed of and more, and adds so much to our living room. I keep finding myself thinking, “what was life before you.” I love her.
