A (sort of) Summer coat for Norah

For Norah’s Summer coat this year, I started with a lining fabric, and then looked for a matching main fabric. Those of you who follow my blog, know that I have a soft spot for using knits as a coat lining. The newest fabric line of About Blue Fabrics (aka Bambiblauw) has the cutest cuckatoo […]

Put your Needlepoint Plaid into a Shape Easily

Besides looking great, plaids are often colorful and easy to stitch. That’s why stitching one can make fantastic needlepoint. All too often though, we feel constrained. It can be one, or more of several things: We can’t find a shape we like and that is the right size. We can’t find a colorful plaid. We […]

Sew Your Own Etta Dress!Sew Your Own Etta Dress!

Is anyone else out there totally in love with the Etta sewing pattern?! Lexy here (both behind the keys and on your screens!) and it’s my pleasure to show you the Etta dress that Vanesssa made when she explained how to line it. It’s just too gorgeous not to share!

Sew Your Own Etta Dress!
Ness used one of our Etta sewing kits to make this stunner. The material is a gorgeous quality sateen, which is super easy to sew, and the slight stretch to it means that it hugs your curves to flatter, whilst allowing movement for comfort –
the best of both worlds!

Sew Your Own Etta Dress!
Sew Your Own Etta Dress!

This version includes the statement collar and faux pockets (which are surprisingly easy to make). We opted for cap sleeves for this Etta, which are perfect for summer sunshine. The pattern also comes with the option of très chic three-quarter-length sleeves.

If this all sounds a bit complicated but you’d like to make yourself an Etta dress, check out our online video workshop, where you’ll be guided through the whole process.

Sew Your Own Etta Dress!

I can absolutely envisage wearing this to a wedding, party, or if I want to feel a bit swish in the studio! It also feels super fancy what with the silky lining, and the material has a slight sheen to it, making it all the more glamorous (and we do love a bit of glamour…).
