New Lingerie + Bodysuit Kits!

bra patternTo go along with the tutorial on how to sew the center front placket on the Madalynne x Simplicity 8435, three new bodysuit kits have been added to the webshop as well as a new lingerie kit for the 8437 strapless bra. Me-made lingerie!

Before I get to the bodysuits, let’s talk about the new lingerie kit. The bra + panty that is featured on the pattern cover was made with a pink ribbed Lycra. Super cool texture. I still have that bra and am wearing it constantly this summer, like with this off the shoulder yellow top. The fabric in the kit is the exact same fabric (bought from the same vendor), but white and the matching white and neon yellow lace is divine. A bright and bold punch of color that is trending this summer. The kit also comes with pom pom picot elastic that I swooped up on my recent trip to LA. I’ve never seen it before, and it was the last left, so there won’t be more coming once it sells out. If pom poms are your thang, don’t worry, the kit also comes with silicone gripped elastic that you can sub. Don’t forget that there’s a full video tutorial for the 8437 that walks you through each and every step.

bra patternSo bodysuits. If I could wear a bodysuit every day with knee high socks a la Free People, I would. I don’t think it would be socially acceptable though. Would need shoes. Until that day comes, I’ll just have to pair it with a skirt or a pair of pants like I did here (more deets on that me-made outfit coming soon). So that you can get your bodysuit-making on, there are 3 new kits for the 8435. The yellow is a slightly thick rib knit that could be worn in summer (might be a little hot unless you did the sleeveless version) or in fall. The 8228 underneath and slightly peeking out with be layering perfection. The heather grey and cream are a thinner knit and I suggest testing tension on some scraps before sewing/serging. It’s the thickness of a thin t-shirt. You could also back it with another fine jersey if you wanted to make it thicker. The kits also come with a snap attacher (snaps included), fusible knit interfacing (to reinforce the center front placket), clear elastic for the leg openings (you can also finish with picot plush elastic like a normal undie), twill tape and cotton jersey for the snap crotch.

There’s nothing more I love than seeing what you make, so be sure to share your sewing projects by emailing or uploading to Instagram (tag @mmadalynne and use #bramakingwithmadalynne).

Happy sewing!

Welcome back for the last day of the Lander sewalong. I am so excited to finish these up and see all of your versions. Let’s get started.   Step 20 – First thing we are going to do is baste the side seams and check for fit. To create a basting stitch, all you need to do is lengthen your stitch length as far as it goes so that it’s easy to unpick if need be. Flip the back pant around so that the right side of the back and right side of the front are touching. Line up the side seams and pin. Baste at a 1” seam allowance. The 1″ seam allowance gives you lots of wiggle room in case you need to let it out a bit around the hip etc… Try the pants on, and adjust as necessary. Make sure that you pin the fly closed when you try them on to get an accurate idea of fit once the buttons are on. You may also want to try them on inside out so that you can easily pin the areas you want to adjust. (The seam allowance at the waist must stay at 1” so […]
