Stay: Hotel DomestiqueDecember 7, 2017 / byLauren Foster / Categories : Feeds
If you’re looking for the perfect romantic getaway, then look no further than Hotel Domestique, nestled in Travelers Rest and tucked right between Greenville, SC and Asheville, NC. Scofield and I recently took a trip to visit this gorgeous hotel for a little pre-thanksgiving vacation, and had the most lovely time. I’ve never been to Europe, but we got a little taste of the European countryside with the gorgeous views of the mountains, old vineyard, and beautiful reflection pool. It was the most perfect setting to sit and drink our coffee in the morning, eat breakfast, read a book, or sip a glass of wine in the evenings and just talk.
I was so impressed by the attention to detail and level of care we experienced by being guests at Hotel Domestique. And it’s no surprise, considering the hotel was founded by cyclist George Hincapie to capture the unforgettable hospitality, cuisine, and rest he experienced during his travels abroad. The hotel offers a complimentary european continental breakfast, a gorgeous saltwater pool (perfect for the summer), a delicious restaurant in-house (but also open to the public) called Restaurant 17, and complimentary wine, water bottles, snacks and coffee at any time of day. My favorite part was their turn down service where they would dim the lights, shut the blinds, light a fire in your room and leave robes and dessert out for when you returned from dinner. Dreamy, right!? The hotel was so lovely that we didn’t want to leave.
But, if you’re looking for some extra adventure, Hotel Domestique is located right next door to many delicious restaurants, coffee shops, and breweries in both Greenville, Traveler’s Rest, or Asheville. There’s also hiking trails and biking trails nearby, and the hotel rents bikes to guests to use during your stay.
I was obsessed with every single rug featured in the hotel, and was definitely taking notes from the room where we stayed for our bedroom renovation at home.
See what I mean about decor!?
Our suite featured a gas log fireplace, view of the reflection pool and mountains, a sitting table, king sized bed, and a deep soaking tub.
Breakfast was to die for every morning. The coffee was delicious, and I started each morning out with a yogurt partfait and orange juice followed by eggs, bacon, and a biscuit (have I mentioned I’ve been craving biscuits this pregnancy!?)
Don’t forget that bikes are available for rent at the hotel. When you rent a bike they will reserve it for you with your name on cardstock and you can use it at your leisure during your stay. If you love biking, Hotel Domestique will be hosting an event March 5-9, where you can ride with George Hincapi, Lance Armstrong, and Christian Vande Velde. The event will include one-on-one style instruction and group rides during the day, and evenings will be spent at Hotel Domestique where gourmet meals with wine will be served, daily massages will be provided, and you will receive mechanics and Hincapie kits.
And last but not least, Hotel Domestique makes the perfect wedding venue. You can rent out the entire hotel for your guests to stay, or use the hotel as the perfect wedding or reception backdrop. I’m wishing I knew about this 5 years ago! ;)
If you’re looking for a cozy, romantic getaway in the fall or winter, or an adventurous getaway in the spring or summer, then I’d highly recommend Hotel Domestique. You can see more of them on their instagram and facebook page, and you can book your stay online, here.
