Recap: Mimi G Sewing Conference

target=”_blank” rel=”noopener”> Mimi G.’s 6th Annual Sewing Conference. The best way to describe the 3-day event was it was the realist conference/convention/gathering I’ve attended. The realist? This sums it up for you. It kicked off on Friday night with a fashion show where ladies walked down the runway wearing one of Mimi G’s patterns. As…

Back To (Bra) Basics: How To Sew Elastic

Sewing lingerie is a whole different genre of me-made. Getting the hang of the fabrics and trims takes time, practice and a lot of error. IBelieve me, I was bad for a long time. With my students, I see their projects make a leap from somewhat messy to profesh when they get the hang of…

What I Made: Tabitha

What have I been crushing on? Color, color, color. Just scope out my lingerie kits – I think that’s evident. Last year, I was all about minimalism, and for the most part, my wardrobe consisted of black, white and jeans. It was kind of a Calvin Klein, 90s vibe. I hung onto that for the

Are Your Participating in Me Made May?

Are you following along with Me Made May 2017? I think that posting in my me-mades for the duration of the month would be way too much and would require way too many sit ups on my part. So, I’m not following along exactly as intended; instead, I’ve been taking a trip down memory lane and

Let’s Talk Bras: Join Me At Brooklyn Craft Company

This summer is going to be cray cray around these parts. In June, I’m jetting off to California to teach at Mimi G’s Sewing Conference, and in August, I’ll be making a very sentimental trip to Lake Okoboji. My mom grew up in Sioux City, but spent her summers on the lake. Lace Okoboji is a

A Bridal Set + 3 Tips for Sewing with Mesh

Don’t hate me. I can’t tell you why just yet – keyword being yet – but I’ve been working on some bridal pieces using very, very delicate laces, burnout velvets and meshes. They’re beautiful to look at and to touch, but not fun to sew. There’s definitely a learning curve and I use a few

Sponsor Feature: Rustic Gem Jewelry

At each and every bra workshop, details count. Details, details, details. The fabric and trims, the food, the decor – I try as much as I can to have it all “go”. Included in that are the goody bags. No party – and my workshops ARE a party – would be complete without a goody bag. Amirite or amirite?

Out With The Old, In With The New I Spring Clean Your Undie Drawer

I am reminding myself of my mother today when she would tell me to wash my face and brush my teeth every night. Thanks ma! Because of her nightly reminders, I have a pretty decent complexion and half pearly whites as I creep up to 30-years-old. Yikes! So spring has sprung. That’s right y’all, time to refresh.

Eep! Crotch Linings Explained

Crotch lining is like the word moist. For some, it’s NBD to say. For others, let’s just say it doesn’t roll off the tip of their tongue mellifluously. I think it’s better than saying genital lining, don’t you think? Perspective people! It’s all about perspective. Crotch linings are a necessary component of undies, however, they aren’t discussed much.

A Yellow and Ivory lingerie set: Simplicity 8228 B and Montgomery panties

EN Summary: When I saw this yellow lace at Bodil’s Bwear.se I remembered the envelope photo of Simplicity 8228; unfortunately the length of lace I had ordered wasn’t enough to make the complete set (at least for my size) so I opted for making a pair of matching panties which take considerably less lace, the Montgomery briefs from Orange Lingerie. Keep reading the full review.
